Blow through and enjoy the midsummer season

Where the sun shines, the sea rushes, the tea tastes good and the seagulls fly, the daily grind is quickly forgotten. But the North Sea spa of Wangerooge has even more to offer: It is almost car-free, has a bathing beach and a castle beach, and invites you to take long walks on the beach or bicycle tours. One experience in this stimulating climate outweighs many others or makes them possible in the first place: after just a few days' stay, the holidaymaker breathes more freely, feels more vital and fit. So the time spent on Wangerooge is automatically associated with a pleasant, liberating feeling that accompanies one in everyday life at home for a long time.

Wangerooge is one of the oldest German seaside resorts and is the easternmost of the seven inhabited East Frisian Islands. It is the second smallest island in this group with Borkum, Juist, Norderney, Baltrum, Langeoog and Spiekeroog, which are lined up off the mainland coast of Lower Saxony and are part of the largest Wadden Sea in the North Sea. The length of stay shows how popular Wangerooge is. According to the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for East Frisia, it was just over eight days in 2016, while the leader, Borkum, had almost 8.5 days. Bringing up the rear was Baltrum with six days.

Landlubbers who enjoy exercise will find a wide range of sports, leisure and relaxation courses on Wangerooge. These include Thalasso beach gymnastics, horse riding, circuit training, fitness, Zumba, beach football, jogging, Nordic walking, water sports, beach walks and much more. Joggers and Nordic walkers will find great conditions on roads, on the dyke, on the beach or on the Thalasso therapy trails. Fishing and air rifle shooting are also possible here. For those with a brain for thinking, there is even a chess tournament once a year. Those who are fans of beach volleyball can take part in the guest tournament and meet up with friends at other times for this attractive sport. Playing field boundaries for several courts on the bathing and castle beach, which can be extended or reduced in size at any time, are already lying in the sand. The ball is available from the spa administration or the entertainment office. The Wangerooge spa administration offers holidaymakers a varied sports programme, which they can use at low cost with the AktivInselCard. It is a ten-person card for many sports and active offers on the island, available at the Oase seawater adventure pool.

There is plenty of accommodation for a wide range of interests, even if it has to be a complete house for a larger group. If the period for your holiday on Wangerooge includes the midsummer season in the last week of June, early booking is advisable. During the midsummer season there are numerous events. During a walk along the beach promenade, holidaymakers can get in the mood for this special atmosphere - all night long a silver lining can be seen on the horizon of the North Sea. On the last Friday in June, the big midsummer party "An island invites you" takes place. There is no reason not to accept this invitation.
